ATTENTION: Mr David Rohloff
I wish to declare my objection to the
proposed residential development and basement parking at 5
Whiteside Street and 14-16 David Avenue by EGC Custodian
Services Pty Ltd, Application MP10_0165.
Once again the proponent has disregarded
community concern and culture by proposing to construct
high-density dwellings that the surrounding environment cannot
endure. The streets are already clogged with passing traffic
and parked cars from workers in nearby offices. The existing
impact has already reduced McGregor and Paul Streets, along
with David Avenue, to single laneways. Recently, with three
teenagers in my car, we witnessed a collision caused by these
blocked arteries. While waiting at one end of McGregor Street
for an oncoming car to ‘run the gauntlet’, a third
car backed into a parked car blocking both approaches. When one
car reversed to clear the thoroughfare, the accident-causing
car raced away without attending to the incident. What a
dreadful example to those three future-licensed
drivers!
Any addition of traffic, particularly in
this area, will not only impact traffic flow, but it will also
have a detrimental cost to many – residents and workers.
Surely, simple logic means the proposed development will create
further chaos of the North Ryde area south of Epping Road. The
area currently has many young families and older residents, who
make up the community’s heart. Why destroy the area with
high-density housing that is out-of-character with the
surrounding environment. Even the local council agrees with a
limit of 2-storey dwellings. This proposal will destroy the
soul of our community. It is unfair and un-Australian to
‘sell-out’ the North Ryde area south of Epping
Road. Keep high-rised development north of Epping Road, where
there is a provision for it.
Therefore, I strongly oppose the
development referred to above, which also conflicts directly
with Ryde Council’s vision of North Ryde. I ask that my
views and those of many other residents be fully taken into
account during the decision-making process. Please reject this
application.
Yours faithfully
Sally Morgan
