I object to the application for proposed residential development with basement parking for 5 Whiteside Street and 14-16 David Avenue, North Ryde (10_0165).

The latest Preferred Project report proposes a development of 163 units, representing 296 bedrooms. 230 parking spaces are proposed to cater fpr the residents of 296 bedroom, and their visitors. It is reasonably foreseeable that the surrounding residential streets will be parked out with overflow cars from the proposed development.

Traffix, in their report for the preceding proposal, recommended that residents of the proposed development be excluded from the residents' parking scheme. The impact of this recommendation is diminished by the lack of effective enforcement of the existing scheme. Further, the scheme does not operate during the hours when the residents of the proposed development will be at home with their cars.

With both sides of the residential streets parked out, passing becomes a time-consuming, hazardous manoeuvre. This is evidenced currently during office hours in Paul Street, Macgregor Street and contiguous parts of David Avenue.

I object to the latest proposal because of this reasonably foreseeable impact on parking and traffic in the surrounding residential streets.
