I am writing to you in my capacity as President of the Nelson Bay Gropers Rugby Club. The management of the Salamander Shores Hotel have been valued enthusiastic sponsors of senior and junior rugby in our community for some years. Without the support of sponsors such as the Salamander Shores the continuation of rugby in our area would be extremely difficult. Our club has over 200 junior players and some 170 senior players who all benefit from their sponsorship.

Our club fully supports the proposed redevelopment which I understand will allow the hotel to host bigger, better and more successful club and community events and fundraising upon which our club and the community are dependant.

Additionally the improved development with additional facilities will enable our club, Port Stephens Council and the community to pursue the hosting of major sporting events and sports tourism generally.
